It's Battlefield 1.
Now, personally I'm super cool with this. I don't think I've seen many games set in WWI outside of Verdun and a few strategy games, (and or Toy Soldiers if you want to count that). Most shooters tend to go towards WWII, I assume, because it's easier to write a more engaging story about Allied forces pushing further into Europe than it is to write a story about sitting in a trench all day waiting for the trench-foot or the chlorine gas to kill you. For the record, I know that WWI wasn't just trench warfare, that was mostly just on the West and Eastern fronts. For the most part, the Great War remains unexplored territory for a FPS and I'm actually quite giddy with some of the opportunities this presents us for its multiplayer.
My only fear, is that it's DICE Stockholm making this. Now, I know they made Battlefront, which looks great, but they also made Battlefield 4, and that was a horrendous buggy mess at launch. I'm hoping that DICE Stockholm took a few pointers from DICE LA and even Visceral and try to release a game that isn't broken at launch. Otherwise, my only other concern is the inevitable Battlefield Premium BS that EA always tags on. Hopefully the latter doesn't intrude too much.
What do you folks think? Is this the right direction for Battlefield? Personally, I welcome the change, since it'll hopefully not be generic futuristic shooter #12, which seems to be the direction CoD is going. Perhaps this will spark interest in revisiting the World War settings. I'd be pretty down for that. (On a sidenote, why did they pick such awful music for this trailer? Nothing against Seven Nations Army, but the song seems really out of place for a game set in WWI, and even if they were going to use a more modern song, why not something just as brutal as the war itself, like say Paschendale?)

Hello new people!
Well, it's been a while since I've made a journal entry. I'll admit, I haven't really been on DA all that much, but today I go to check my email and see a bunch of messages from DA telling me a number of folks followed me all at once, and a couple mentioning that I had been featured in a video! While I welcome everyone that's come to visit this page, I think it's important to discuss the context of why you're here, that comment I left on that journal. Pardon me if I'm being purposefully vague here, but my goal isn't to reopen any wounds or stir the pot; however I will say this: I think it's important to do your own due diligence. If you see something that you suspect isn't right, you shouldn't be afraid to ask questions so long as you're equipped to hear the answers to them. I made that comment because I saw a discrepancy between what was described in that journal in regards to a certain individual's character vs what I've actually experienced with said individual, especially when
California Dreamin'
Hello all. I should've made an update sooner but oh well. Yes, I've survived Coast Guard bootcamp, and boy do I have stories to tell. Pm me if you want to listen to some funny shit that has happened during my stay in Cape May, I have too many stories to list here about the myriad of Incentive Training we received, galley happenings and so on and so forth.
Anyhow, that means I've completed the first step in my military career, the next will be becoming a Petty Officer and then finally going to my first unit. That entails me coming out here to California for "A" School. The training center here is much more relaxed than Cape May, and there's
On the Way to Cape May
Today marks a new starting point in my life. I am en route to the Coast Guard training center, where I'll remain for at least 8 weeks. The path ahead will be difficult but ultimately rewarding. Wish me luck, guys. I'll need it.

Puddle Piracy and Extra Terrestrials
Hello all. I've been inactive on here for quite a while as I'm sure you can tell. Well the simple explanation is that I've been busy getting my life together. I had spent the better part of the last two years living in Texas. I worked a shitty retail job selling shoes and decided I didn't want to do that for the rest of my life, but I was and still am unsure about college.
Naturally I decided to look into military service, and with some pushing from my father, have decided to enlist in the United States Coast Guard. The enlistment process took a really long time to clear because I was an idiot whilst filling out paperwork, but eventually it

I think it is the right direction to take in terms of making things fresh. WW1 isn't exactly as cut and dry as WW2 is. The later can be seen as sort of good vs evil with the allies battling the Nazi regime. WW1 is more along the lines of men killing each other for petty land grabs.
It was also where the destructive power of the machine gun was truly discovered, as thousands of men would charge the battlefield only to be mowed down. In fact, it was where a lot of new age instruments of death were implemented.
